October

Hello one and all!

October is upon us, so a blog is in order to keep you all up to date with everything that's going on here in Essex!

First up all the lads in Fagan would like to say a massive thanks to our good mate Joe, who stood in for Ashley Barr bass guitar on Sunday night after Barr had been struck down ill, with Joe stepping in at the last minute.

Picture above with Joe on the right

The gig on Sunday night was for the Final of the Rockstar 2009 Battle of the Bands, at Flex nightclub in Dagenham, with the winners grabbing a record deal with Transcend Records (can you imagine us on there roster!? ;)

We came 3rd out of 10 bands in the final, and about 30 bands in the whole competition, so all in all we were very proud of ourselves!

Whilst on the subject of competitions (we have entered alot this year) we are currently taking part of 'Lovemusic BOTB' where will need as many votes from you guy's as possible to get through to the final. All your votes will help us on our way to the Regent theatre in Ipswich, where we would be playing if we get through.

Love Music Vote! - Please sign up and vote once, and get as many people to as you know!

We are pleased to announce we are going to be playing a gig at the above venue on 27th October, and we really do need your support for this one!

It is a showcase for unsigned band's to get noticed by Scouts, A&R etc, and as part of us performing, they want to see how we can pull in a crowd. So all your support is very much appreciated for this one, and we hope to see you in your hundreds! ;)

There is a lot more news that I could write up, including our debut Album is now finished! But we obviously do not want to rush this out, and will be doing everything we can to make sure it is promoted in the right way, so we still do not have a release date for it yet!

Next big gig!

7th Nov Essex Uni, Sub Zero - SUPPORTING THE HOLLOWAYS.

Hope to see lots of you soon at the forthcoming gigs!

As ever thanks so much for your support.

Liam

Barr's Blog

I know its been a while since the last update but here is Septembers blog! Ive drawn my eyes away from Terminator 2 on ITV2 justttt long enough to update you all with all the news in the world of Fagan=]

Its been quite a mad few weeks and we've got some exciting plans for the next few months. We have our final studio session booked this sunday. The recordings have come along really really well and the debut album will be out pretty soon so look out for it! It will be avaliable as a download on itunes as well as hard copy's released in shops and for sale at gigs. Also our first single will be released as a free download pretty soon.

We've also done a couple of unsigned competitions recently, one at Flex nightclub in Dagenham. That was a couple of very late nights! I dont think i got home till way gone 2am. But it was all worth it as we're into the semi-finals which is in a couple of weeks time. The winning band gets a slot at the Hellfire festival at the Birmingham NEC, im sure we will go down wel l=].

We also did another competition in Brentwood for a BBC run contest called Essex Undiscovered, which we're into the next round in, that next one is at Chinnery's in Southend, so look out for those two!

We have managed to bag a support slot with the almighty Holloways in November at Sub Zero nightclub at the Essex Uni in Colchester, we're all really excited, and thats a gig definatly not to be missed.

We're also playing at the Colchester Arts Center on October 3rd with British Standard, again thats one definatly not to be missed, tickets are avaliable online for £6 from the following website :-

http://www.wegottickets.com/event/54016

But nearer than this we will be playing a 2 hour gig at The British Legion in Hadleigh on the 26th of September and plently more gigs in the coming months so keep checking back to the gig list on our Myspace as its updated almost daily.

Hope you all enjoyed my first ever blog and keep checking back for more updates!

Take care guys!

Ashley

Summer '09

Hello Faganers,

It's been a while since any of us have posted a blog but that's because we have been busy bees in the Fagan camp (or just lazy.. probably due to the heat!).

Lately, we have been in the studios and it's nearly here.. exciting eh? Just a bit of finalising and ironing out some minor details and we should have a release date real soon... We'll be sure to let you know... Don't worry ;)

Apart from recording our new album, we have also been performing. Infact, most weeks we have been on the road playing small festivals, pubs, parties and only the other day we played in a caravan with 2007 X-Factor Finalist Ben Mills! (It's not exactly how it sounds)

This year we have also entered a few competitions. Most recent being one in Dagenham at the Flex Nightclub.. we managed to get through the first round and hopefully we'll get through the next! ;)

Lastly i'd like to say that this year has been a good one, our fan base has been growing and i'm pretty sure we are getting better too! Excellent! So thanks to all the people who have been supporting us and we'll continue to gear it up as expected ;)

Cheers

Lee :)

New Recordings

To All Our Fagan Fans

We are so pleased that you all like the new sample tracks and understand that you want to download the full version.

We are hoping to get back into the studio by the end of May to record some more of our songs, so that we will eventually have an album’s worth.  Our aim is to get our first album on i-tunes which you can then download.

Until we have all our recordings we hope you will bear with us.

Thanks so much for all your support

Recording Studio & Live & Unsigned

So a month has passed, and it’s now Sean informing you on Fagan’s busy few weeks ahead.

So for those of you that haven’t already heard, last bank holiday Monday we were overjoyed to get through the 2nd round regional final of the live and unsigned competition.

It was a long night, which started out with an interesting car journey, followed by one of the quickest sound checks ever!

Still it was the same for everyone so we made the best of it. After this we had nearly 4 hours to kill before we actually played, so we headed to the local pub and had a few drinks and food to boost our energy for later! After this we headed back to the venue.

So it was getting towards 9pm and we were all getting a little nervous, and we had just found out were we 4th on. We were showed to our rooms behind stage, which we shared with a cool band called the Electralytes.

Then it was time to perform.

Personally I was very nervous as I had to start the first song, Umbrella but had a great adrenaline rush at the same time.

After we finished were we all pleased with how it went but then had to sit around for over an hour without anything to drink, in warm conditions. (Wasn’t very nice) then later when Fagan were called through we were all relieved and very happy to make it through to the 3rd round!!!

So that was the story of last week, this week’s is just as exciting, in just 3 days Fagan are heading to the recording Studio to finally get some (hopefully) awesome recordings done. It’s been a long wait and we are eager to finally have some good songs to show off. If so im sure we will be heading back to Witham in the not too distant future to record some more, and eventually put together an album!

So finally our next local gig will be held at the Clacton football club on the 30th May at the party on the pitch music festival. Should be a good day, with some sun hopefully and some other great bands, hope to see lots of you there !

Thanks for reading

Sean

P.S. If anyone is interested in getting your hands on a ticket for the next round of the Live & Unsigned competition, please get in contact with us on  faganband@googlemail.com and we will send you your tickets in the post. The more support we have, the more chance there is of us getting through to the grand final in Portsmouth!! Be quick, it's on the 12th May!

Happy St Paddy's Day!!

Ok i'm one day ahead of myself but i thought this would be a good time to blog as tomorrow i will probably be drinking.. waheyyy!

It's Lee speaking this month, to give you the low down on current fagan affairs. First off we have a new website.. it's still in the making so the layout may alter from time to time. But you can still check it out by clicking here :)

Please do see the site as it costs us and we are hoping to use it as much as possible with forums and quizzes and anything else we can think of that is fun. Maybe a facts page? Ashley Barr once ate 96 creme eggs in 2 weeks... which is a true story. Why he did he do this? you will have to go on the site and ask ;)

Secondly i'd like to give a big thanks for all those who attended the night we played along side the Sugababes. It was really good but no we didnt meet them and yes, we were better (had we had their sound system and crowd :P) just kidding but they were really good and looked amazing from the back of the venue where we could just about see them...

Coming up we have the second round of the live and unsigned act 2009. We’ll be one of 20 bands from the Eastern Region playing in the regional final show at the Townsgate Theatre, St. Martins Square, Basildon, Essex on Easter Monday 13th April 2009.

The show starts at 8.45pm and is packed with 1 hr 45 minutes of the
region’s finest unsigned talent! There will also be a guest signed act
playing on the night

Please see www.liveandunsigned.uk.com for more details!

Next month we will finally be hitting the recording studios for a couple of days to get some professional recordings done. We have been doing a lot of pub gigs recently to help finance this and i personally cant wait to hear the results... it should be good! so stay tuned!

As a side project we are also creating a little acoustic ep which should be avalible soon.
Lastly i'd like to ask for your support once more for the Road to V competition. If you could please spare a few minutes to vote for us we would be very grateful as all of you did with the Orange Unsigned Act. Help us get on your TVs!!
